The VW Golf R is available in the UK, starting at £29,900 with manual gearbox and three-door design. The high-end DSG comes with automatic gearbox and five-door design. Equipped with 26bhp engine, the car can go from 0 to 62mph in 5.3 seconds with manual gearbox and just under 5 seconds with automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen puts a limit on how fast the car can run, at about 155mph. The power is generated by the 2.0-litre petrol turbocharged engine. Multiple changes and optimizations, such as the improved 4-wheel drive system, make the car 18 percent more efficient than the older model; at 38mpg with the manual model and 40mpg with the automatic model. Inside, the basic model features half-Alcantara sports seat and optional full leather.
The VW Golf R comes with new styling, headlights with daytime running lights, modified radiator grille and revised front bumper design. This would make the R somewhat easy to distinguish from other VW Golf models. Other revisions are chrome-capped mirrors and body-coloured door sills. With the standard models, buyers obtain 18-inch alloy wheels, with the optional 19-inch alloys available for an undisclosed price.
